You know how every now and then you’ll come across an idea that helps make a little more sense of life? I think this TED Talk can be particularly relevant to translings: http://www.ted.com/talks/brene_brown_on_vulnerability.html
Also, folks, don’t forget that I will be presenting at the 2011 Out for Work Conference in Washington, DC on September 24th! Come watch me talk about coming from where I’ve come from, and getting to where I’ve gotten! Also, there will be What’s Normal Anyway comic books for sale! That’s right, I’ve published a limited edition What’s Normal Anyway comic of the first 36 strips that costs $4. I don’t have a formal online purchasing system, but if you really want one just email me at morgan.boecher@gmail.com with a shipping address and I’ll make it happen.
I actually emailed a therapist inquiring about her pricing and acceptance of genderqueer transsexuals, and with the way she talked about hormone acquirements, she seemed like a 3-appointments,-here’s-your-meds doc.
“Translings” is a great word! Where did it come from? Did you make it up?
I’ve been needing an affectionate, casual word for a trans person to replace the more problematic “tranny” in my vocabulary. You have met my linguistic need. <3
As far as I know I did make it up! I’m glad you can make good use of it :)
“translings” . . . I think I like that word. I’m keeping it.
