Hooray for the legalization of same-sex marriage in New York!! Saves me some protesting when I move there this fall. I hope that means being trans won’t get in the way on one’s wedding day, since that issue remains ambiguous in most states. Not so much Florida after the Kantaras v. Kantaras case in which the marriage between an FTM trans man and a woman-born woman was voided on account of the state’s law against “same-sex” marriages. This ruling made it impossible for two trans women I know to marry in Florida, even though their legal documentation identified one as a man and one as a woman.

Yes, the dominoes are falling, but Florida’s a long way down the line, I’m sure.

In any case, like my astute friend said, it’s a great time to be a gay event planner in New York!
